The model maker\u2019s annualized revenue run rate \u2014 a projection of a full year\u2019s revenue based on a recent, shorter period \u2014surpassed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-08-17\/anthropic-revenue-run-rate-surpasses-65-billion-ahead-of-ipo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">$65 billion<\/a> at the end of July, Bloomberg reported on Monday, up from <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2026\/05\/28\/anthropic-raises-65-billion-nears-1t-valuation-ahead-of-ipo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$47 billion<\/a> in May and just $9 billion at the end of last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anthropic didn\u2019t immediately respond to our request for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company\u2019s investors expect it to continue to grow at approximately the same rate for the remainder of the year, finishing 2026 between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/840ac156-af1c-4a82-b260-ae791072fcfa?syn-25a6b1a6=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">$100 billion and $120 billion<\/a>, the Financial Times reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, rival OpenAI has doubled its revenue to $40 billion, up from $20 billion at the end of 2025, Bloomberg reported <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-08-13\/openai-s-revenue-run-rate-tops-40-billion-ahead-of-ipo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">last week<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two companies may calculate their revenue metrics differently, but Anthropic\u2019s growth rate has captivated investors far more than OpenAI\u2019s has.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both companies have filed confidential IPO paperwork. Anthropic is expected to hit the public markets ahead of OpenAI \u2014 possibly as soon as this fall.
