A Seamless Upgrade: BrosTrend 8-Port 2.5Gb Ethernet Switch Review
I recently integrated the BrosTrend 2.5Gb 8-Port Unmanaged Ethernet Switch into my setup, and it’s been a revelation. This sleek, fanless device promised to elevate my network performance, and it delivered with remarkable ease and efficiency.Ease of SetupSetting up the BrosTrend switch was a breeze, embodying the true spirit of plug-and-play simplicity. I unboxed the sturdy metal-cased unit, connected it to my router with a Cat5e cable, and plugged in my devices—gaming PC, NAS, and smart TV—within minutes. No software installation or complex configurations were needed. The switch’s auto-negotiation feature seamlessly adapted to my devices’ speeds, ensuring compatibility with both 2.5Gbps and 1Gbps connections. The clear LED indicators on top provided instant feedback on connectivity, making troubleshooting effortless.Usage and PerformanceIn daily use, the BrosTrend switch has transformed my network experience. Transferring large files to my NAS, which previously crawled at 1Gbps, now zips along at near 2.5Gbps speeds—evident when a 55GB video file transferred in under four minutes. Streaming 4K content to my TV is buttery smooth, with no buffering, even during peak household usage. For gaming, the switch’s low latency has been a boon, ensuring my LAN parties run without a hitch. The fanless design keeps it whisper-quiet, a godsend for my noise-sensitive home office. While it runs warm during heavy use, the well-ventilated metal casing prevents overheating, maintaining consistent performance.Final ThoughtsThe BrosTrend 2.5Gb 8-Port Switch is a stellar addition to any modern home network. Its effortless setup and robust performance make it ideal for tech-savvy users and novices alike. Whether you’re streaming, gaming, or managing a home office, this switch delivers speed and reliability at a compelling price point. The lifetime protection adds peace of mind, cementing its value. For anyone seeking to future-proof their network without breaking the bank, this switch is an eloquent solution.

Great value, great product, effortless installation
I just upgraded my internet service to a 2 GB x 1 GB fiber connection. That meant I needed to replace my gigabit switch and gigabit Ethernet connector. I grabbed this switch because of great reviews and because it came with a PCI-e Ethernet card for the same price as the switch alone. Nice deal!I appreciate the exceptional build quality of both products. You can see how well the case goes together in my photo. Unfortunately, in my excitement to get my network running, I did not take a picture of the Ethernet card. The switch was plug-and-play and started right up without a hiccup. The Ethernet card comes with a small DVD with all the drivers. I installed the card, then loaded all the drivers. It was seamless and also worked perfectly. I can safely say it was a pleasant experience, especially when I saw the 2 GB download speed on my speed test.If you need to upgrade your switch and Ethernet card to accommodate 2 GB speed, you’ll love this duo.

Great value for a basic 2.5G switch
I bought these to replace switches in my network that were the only roadblock to 2.5G internet. I got them during a sale on Amazon, that allowed me to replace all the switches I needed to. Some other brands seem to be much more expensive for 2.5G capable switches. I decided to try these, knowing Amazon’s good return policies. They worked immediately, giving gaming computers over 2G up and down easily. I noted the power adapter plugs in the front or the unit, but no issues there. At first I thought it didn’t have connection lights, but then I found them on the top panel. Again, no problem, most of the time these are hooked up and hidden. It’s compact size, mounting is easy (I often use 3M Dual lock Velcro)In short, no issues and easy connection to my Fiber router. A great value for a basic 2.5G router, I am very happy with them so far

    Great 2.5Gb switch.
Sweet little switch. Build quality is nice. Plug and play with no issues at all. It’s compact and looks great with my white ONT, Cisco switch and Eero 7 Pro. Provides plenty of ports for a small lab/home network. And performance is great. I attached a couple screen shots showing my speed using my MSI motherboard with a native 2.5Gb nic.The only reason I took off one star is because the lights just blink like crazy. The company should switch to a better use of the led notifications on the front of the switch to make it easier to identify the state of the ports. But if you can live with that and the blinking lights don’t bother you, this is definitely a five star switch. Especially for the price and its performance.

Love that the Power and Ports are on one side, keeping its face clean. great plug and play perfect
After upgrading my home to 10g hard lines everywhere, and upgrading to 5.4g up/down speeds (yes that is real lol), I wanted to take advantage of the speeds between my rooms, where I only had 1 gig port unmanaged switches and routersSo, I bought one of these as it has 2.5 gig lines and since my ISP is 5.4 there is no reason to put 10 gig ports everywhere except between the rooms, which I did, but inside the room I am using 2.5 gig lines to the 10g router in each room. The reason I really love this one, is its design. Most that I buy are Netgear, TP, Linksys/Cisco and even TredNet. The issue is the power plug is in the back (or front depending on your view point lol) and the ports are on the other side, so no matter what, you have an ugly view of cables and lights, or a power plug.NOT this one. The power AND the ports are on the same side and it simply has a nice simple facia.Love it, much cleaner and runs like a champ.Highly recommend

£48 reduced from £60 at time of reviewI’m in the process of upgrading my home network with Cat 7 cables and 2.5Gbps adapters on my computers and NAS so needed to swap out my old 1G switch, wow what a difference! Most of the time I’m just connecting to the internet (which is a 1Gig connection via Three, which I can’t recommend enough!).Anyway this thing is brilliant, no bottle necks, full 1G to the internet and a noticeable difference connecting to my NAS, everything just worked seamlessly and so fast. Streaming my Plex & Jellyfin at full res has been no problem, and backing up my computers and working off the NAS has been a dream come true, super happy with this switch, highly recommend!Hope my review was helpful

I set this up in my garage, where all my wired connections terminate into the comms box. It gets really hot in there during summer, so I was a bit concerned about how the switch would handle the heat — but it’s been rock solid with zero issues so far.Setup was genuinely plug-and-play. No configuration needed — I just hooked up my devices and it was up and running instantly. The 2.5G ports are great for future-proofing — I’m only on a 1Gbps internet connection at the moment, but the extra bandwidth is already coming in handy for local streaming and large file transfers across my home network.Build quality is solid, it runs quietly (no fan noise), and the form factor makes it easy to mount or tuck away neatly. For the price I paid, it’s fantastic value — especially considering it supports 2.5G across all eight ports. If you’re looking to upgrade your home network without going overboard, this is a great middle ground. Happy with the performance, and no regrets.
