Installed this Ecobee after replacing a faulty control board in my Carrier WeatherMaker 8000 furnace, and it works flawlessly. Setup was quick and intuitive using the app.You’ll need a **C wire** or Ecobee’s included PEK kit—easy to confirm with a quick look at your wiring. Love this thermostat
We bought this thermostat because we moved into a two-story house and I wanted to be able to control the temperature from the upstairs bedroom. Our thermostat controller is located downstairs. This works perfectly. While I am upstairs, I can control the temperature using my smart phone and it is so easy to use. Installation was not difficult. This is a quality product, I love the look of it, it’s sleek and modern and It is well-made with a good price point, and I highly recommend it.

The Best Thermostat!
Easy to install and Ecobee customer support was wonderful with how I needed to wire it. They provided on the phone support and walked me through the entire installation even testing the system. The Essential does the same as the others basically but does not include the sensor nor air quality monitor. It was replacing a basic non programable Honeywell (cheap) that did have a c wire. The compatibility of the wiring was a little different than this one but customer support walked me through the changes. The temperature control is so easy to control from the wall or the app on your smart phone. Wifi is needed but stays connected all the time with no issues. I will purchase a 2nd one. We have had these before in another home and loved them. I misplaced my 2 sensors so not able to control certain rooms just yet but the past experience they work perfectly.

App Not as Good at Nest
I bought this thermostat to replace my Nest that Google removed remote support on. I did not want another Nest for Google to collect data from. This would be my 2nd choice and I found the usage to be also second best. This thermostat is in my weekend lake house. Since I am often away I need to manage the temperature remotely. I found the app to manage the away status hard to find. I have to go 4 clicks to get to the setting. I was used to it being on the home page. I have also found that the sensor for automatically changing to away does not work. For the positives it was very easy to install and worked well with my system. The touch screen is also easier to see the temperature.

The smart thermostat is perfect!
Great thermostat! Easy to install, even with my not having a C wire coming out to my thermostat. There was a kid I had to buy, but very easy to get it going.My previous thermostat was a nest, first GEN. It received a firmware update that stopped it from being allowed to talk to my phone and also caused it to start sending error codes to my furnace. This was confirmed by a technician at my home. I was worried that I’d have to buy a new furnace that I had something major wrong, but it was just the firmware update on my old nest thermostat. This ecobee is wonderful! Also, from everything I can tell it sounds like ecobee does not send firmware update updates that disable the thermostats for any generation thermostat.I have an HVAC system with heat air and fan. Everything works great! I love that. It works well with Alexa too.

I bought this to replace a two year-old model from the other smart thermostat company that the manufacturer decided would no longer be supported. That meant the most important thing that I purchased it for, to be able to monitor and control my HVAC when I was away from my home, would be virtually useless.This new ecobee unit was less expensive than that one was, and blows it away technologically and aesthetically. It integrates better with Alexa , and is dramatically easier and more intuitive to adjust on the unit itself. The iOS app is much slicker as well. The ecobee unit displays the humidity on the face of the unit, and the app has some really nice historical reports that are easy to get to and very easy to decipher.I am an ex-Air Force avionics tech, 35 year commercially rated pilot/flight instructor, and 15 year statewide telecom supervisor retiree. It ain’t easy to impress me with tech, this unit checks all the boxes.

Easy to install. Works great!
This thermostat was easy to install and works great. I did call their helpline to verify where to put the white wire, but other than that, it was straightforward. The one thing that initially confused me was when I entered in a four digit pin, it did not take effect until after the thermostat went into sleep mode. Then the features that I had locked out using the pin were truly locked out. This took me a little bit to figure out since when I first put the pin in, it didn’t do anything. I installed two of these on one of my rental properties since some of the renters were setting the old thermostat to the lowest setting in the summer, causing the air conditioner to run all the time. This thermostat has a great feature where you can set an upper and lower temperature limit for both heating and cooling modes. This is very useful for a rental property and you can lock those ranges in using the four digit pin. Note that you have to enter the four digit pin at the thermostat itself. There’s no way to do that remotely through the app. But once it has been set you can change any of the settings via the app or locally on the thermostat.
