Complete continuous LED circle light panel
I really like this continuous LED round light panel. It is a complete kit.- Shape – This is not your typical donut ring light with a hole in the middle. This circular panel is solidly filled with LED lights. This provides more lumens and even spreadh light for the same size diameter LED panel.- Tripod – The kit includes a clone of Nano style compact tripod to mount the light. It is small and compact in size with under 2′ closed length for easy storage and opens to nearly 7′ height.- Phone mount/crossbar arm – There is a phone holder that attaches to the ball end of the crossbar arm. The arm clamps onto the tripod to allow for various height, orientation and angles of the phone holder.- Controls – The panel provides 2 knobs to adjust both the color temperature and the brightness. However there is no LED indicator on the precise color temp or brightness level. The color temperature ranges from the warm yellow 2700K to cool white 6700K light temperature. The output level provides many moods and scenes. What you see is what you get vs a strobe.- Remotes – There are 2 remotes to wirelessly adjust the color temperature and brightness and turn the light on/off. A separate small remote can be used to switch to use with IOS or Android phones. The remotes help save power when the light is not needed.- Power – Included is a power adapter and plug for wired AC use. But on the panel there are 2 slots for Sony NP-F camcorder batteries for portable use without being tethered. The batteries sizes can use the smallest F330 to largest F970 or F980 that triples capacity. This is the best feature of all.- Case – There is hard plastic carrying case with nice durable foam cutouts for the various pieces. The cover is not hinged and removes completely for easier access. The case tabs are a bit weak and brittle. On the short side of the case, there is a carry handle for easy transport.There are 2 small design issues. The diameter of the crossbar arm clamp only fits the top section of the tripod. I wish the crossbar had a spigot end to that are compatible to many other phone holders to provide more flexibility for different size phones or even tablets.The biggest problem is the extremely long tread on the bottom thumbscrew that threads the light to the tripod. It’s so long that 3/4″ sticks out after tightening to the tripod. The diameter of the screw is very small and doesn’t seem to provide much holding strength/friction to support the entire light especially if tilted at extreme angles. With the entire attachment assembly being plastic, the small screw needs to hold a lot of weight and maintain tension.I’ve used this light for photo shoot in a darkened dance floor. The LED panel provides a continuous light source for focusing as a modeling light, while off camera strobes light the entire scene. This LED panel is very handy for short distance video production/vlogs and less expensive than LED light sets.
