Versatile, Easy To Use and Operate
Before you start using this tester, remember to connect the battery cable first :). It came disconnected for safety as well as to keep the battery from draining. The Probe battery is already connected, and there is no accessible battery compartment, so I just went ahead and charged it up. As stated on the product page, the Emitter has a 4000mAh rechargeable battery inside, and the Probe has a 2000 mAh that should last up to 12 hours depending on usage. To be honest, I have yet to open up the User Guide to read. I just watched the little demo video on the product page and then tried it out. Functionality-wise, this tester comes with all the things I needed to test my home network, as well as cables, not to mention the Digital Multimeters that I could use to test AC/DC Voltages, Currents, Resistance, and Diodes, amongst other things. The Auto function works really well, going from a small battery to my 120V power outlet. Anything over 36V, it will light up a RED warning of High Voltage present. But that is not all, the Probe can be used as non-contact AC Voltage detection as well, it’s super convenient to have it.As far as cable testing, it’s quite accurate. I had an Ethernet cable that looked normal, but I just couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t connect. So I plugged it into the tester and the Probe, ran the cable test function, and it turns out that the Orange cable was damaged under the shield, now I know :). I also used it to locate cables between my guest bedrooms and the bundle in my attic using the Cable Search function. The Cable Tracer also works well; it’s used to trace the path of IP packets between two points. For example, I tested it using my local IP address and the Amazon website, and it took about 20 Hops with the time in ms. I have also tried out most other functions as well, too long to write them up, but they all worked as expected. One thing I have yet to try is the Optical tester, since I don’t have any optical cables to test with, but I will try it out once I have my hands on them. Other than that, I really like the versatile Tester, love the Multimeters and Probe functions as well, it seems well-made, rugged, but not too heavy or clunky. It comes with a very nice zipper carrying bag as well as wrist straps. I do think this is a great value to have, almost an all-in-one cable tester. Before I forget, remember to set the IP address for this Tester to Dynamic if you need to run some Network tests, since it’s pre-set as Static. One last thing, the Built-in LED lights on the Tester and Probe are a big plus for me also.

Handy all in one network tester, saves a lot of guessing
I bought this for cleaning up a small office rack where nothing was labeled and half the runs were a mystery. The 4 inch touch screen makes it easy to bounce between the UTP wire map test, the cable tracer, and the network tools without digging through menus. I was able to identify which wall jack went to which switch port, then use the port flashing feature to confirm it on the switch side. The RJ45 TDR and length functions were also useful for catching one run that had a bad pair and for getting a rough length estimate before I decided whether it was worth re pulling. One feature that deserves a callout is LLDP. Plug it into a live drop and it can show you the switch name and the exact port it is on. That is huge for tracing runs when you have access to the closet but not the other end of the cable, and it saved me a bunch of time versus doing the old unplug and see what goes down routine.Build quality feels decent for a tool like this. The kit has a transmitter and receiver, both rechargeable, and the batteries have been fine for a day of troubleshooting without babysitting a charger. PoE detection is the other big win here. It will show voltage and pin info, and it helped me confirm a camera was really getting power at the far end. For value, it packs a lot into one box, cable testing, tracing, PoE checks, plus extras like the multimeter and optical power meter if you need them.

Other than lack of charging information, I don’t have any complaints so far.
Yeah, lack of charging information… Unless I have missed it. And if I did, then it should probably be easier to find. The only charging information that I DID find, is that the main device (the emitter) has a battery with a capacity of 4000mAh with a working time of about 6 hours, and that the other device (the receiver) has a battery with a capacity of 2000mAh with a working time of about 12 hours. But then they give you a cable that has a USB-A connection on one end and TWO USB-C connections on the other end, which is very cool. With no charging information though, customers have no way to know what kind of charging brick they’ll need. I wouldn’t expect something like this to come with a charging brick, so that’s no problem in my opinion, but not everyone uses charging bricks or charging stations that show the volts, amps, and/or wattage that devices charge at like I do. And so, to those who don’t, it looks like each of the two main devices can charge at a maximum rate of 10 watts. So to charge them as quickly as they can be charged using the double USB-C cable that’s included, I suppose you’d need a charging device that has an output of at least 20 watts.Well, like I had said, I don’t really have any complaints other than that. However, to be honest I wouldn’t put too much stock in my opinion. Especially if you are someone who professionally uses something like this. Because this is the first time that I have used devices like these, so I don’t have any other basis for comparison. One more thing. Even though I like very much that it comes with a case for everything, the quality of the case isn’t that great… Because I spent a good thirty minutes or so trying to repair all of the loose threads on it. It’s not a super big deal though, as I WAS able to repair it. And that might not bother other people like it bothers me either. So I didn’t reduce my rating any for that. I only took a star off for lack of charging information.
