Introducing the NETGEAR GS305EP PoE+ Gigabit Ethernet Smart Managed Plus Switch with 4 ports PoE+ and a total PoE budget of 63W to power PoE applications such as VoIP phones, IP cameras for surveillance, wireless access points and more.
GS305EP includes basic and advanced network management features to help optimize the performance of business networks. Management is also flexible via the easy-to-use web browser-based management GUI. Basic management features include VLANs, QoS, and IGMP Snooping, and advanced management features include advanced per port PoE control and uninterrupted PoE.
Use VLANs to separate traffic for better speed and improved bandwidth, QoS to prioritize traffic for better delivery quality and IGMP snooping for optimized multicast performance at Layer 2 which is especially useful for bandwidth-intensive IP multicast applications such as IPTV. Advanced per port PoE controls manage the power of the PoE connected devices by enabling and disabling PoE power per port, PoE prioritization, PoE power limit per port and more. Lastly, unique to NETGEAR, it has uninterrupted PoE. Keep PoE power on even when the switch is updating firmware or performing a software reboot.

Cute Little Baby Switch
I run a Home-Lab that includes 2 of these little PoE switches. Working in an Enterprise IT environment, I would often forget that these smaller residential/hobby switches exist, but gosh to I love them. Not only are they cute, but they provide that enterprise level functionality with PoE. This means it could be used to wire up a PoE security camera system, handling both your network connection and power in one cable! Minus the countless other applications of PoE, this switch provides ample value for what you’re paying. The build quality even on a switch this small is great! Feels heavy and sturdy but could honestly be held up by a number of command strips (Please… don’t do that though!!!).I haven’t noticed any problems with my unit getting too hot or needing anything special to operate as intended. All 8 ports work as expected and the throughput is, in fact, Gigabit as advertised. So no problems there. If you are looking for something consolidated but powerful, this could be for you!

Excellent Switch for Both RJ45 and Optical Connections
Excellent reliable ethernet switch purchased for the ability of optical connection. Switch has worked as expected with no issues. I haven’t used the PoE function, but they can be turned off via the web UI. I use both the RJ45 and the optical connection for music streaming. This has been very reliable since installed.

Works great and easy to use
Worked great to power my Unifi wireless access point. Used it to not only connect that device, but also to connect my wired home network to my router. Have it connected inside my networking box in my utility room.Nothing to setup. Just plug in the devices. There are specific ports to use for powered devices, but the instructions state that. This is one device where you want to read the instructions in my opinion.

Glad to Receive my new Switch, But…
Solid construction, looks like a sleek version of CISCO pro-grade routers and switches. Unboxing, there is no instruction pamphlet, or “Switch Discovery Tool,” and the power supply is very dusty — not preteen and new looking. I wiped the PS down with a damp cloth, and it looks fairly new, as I expected.The switch itself is sealed and appears to be new. I’m not sure what I have here, but I’m going to attempt the installation and let you know in a follow-up message.Update: Switch is up and running for days now—all good! I feel like it has improved the performance of my whole network—love it. Can’t explain why it arrived with a dusty, less than pristine power supply and no instructions.

Telecom builder’s first choice. Best switch for the money
I love these switches. I have used these in several telecom builds over the years and this is my go to switch. They are easy to setup and program if needed. The quality and reliability are outstanding. As a general rule I always buy a second one in case of a failure, however I haven’t had to use them yet. They provide great speed and stable power.

I needed PoE and Gigabit Ethernet but otherwise didn’t need to much sophistication. This worked perfectly for two video cameras for the video streaming, power and PTZ, all over Ethernet. Maybe the ones that cost 4 times the cost of this offer something – but whatever they offer isn’t something I need! This works great.
