The SMART1500SLT SmartPro 120V 1.5kVA 900W Line-Interactive Sine Wave UPS provides battery backup and AC power protection against blackouts, brownouts, power surges and line noise that can damage electronics or destroy data. Ideal for backing up VoIP systems, point-of-sale applications and network closets, the SMART1500SLT switches to battery mode in milliseconds to keep your connected equipment running long enough to save files and shut down safely with no data loss. Featuring eight NEMA 5-15R outlets and a six-foot power cord with NEMA 5-15P input, the SMART1500SLT has an internal battery that provides 20 minutes of support at half load and eight minutes at full load. Front-panel LEDs indicate line power, battery power, overload, voltage regulation and battery status. An alarm sounds to indicate power failure and overload conditions. Automatic voltage regulation (AVR) maintains selectable 100V, 110V or 120V nominal output over an input range of 95V to 145V without using battery power. EMI/RFI noise filtering improves your equipment’s performance and prevents damage. A 690-joule surge suppression rating protects your equipment from harmful power surges. With Tripp Lite’s PowerAlert software (available via free download), SMART1500SLT enables safe unattended system shutdown and file saves in case of a prolonged power failure.

High Quality Tripp Lite Product
This is a well proven high quality product. I purchased the SMART2200NET 2200 VA and this is a magnificent beast. I also purchased the Extended battery back up BP24V28-2U and combined both units weigh about 130 pounds. Tripp Lite support was very helpful and extremely friendly. These units have been around for some time and highly stable. Some productive comments that don’t impact my excellent opinion about these products.1. The extended battery BP24V28-2U comes with a grounding cable. However the 2200VA UPS has an all plastic housing. I called Tripp LIte and discussed how to properly ground. I ended up purchasing a ground plug that plugs into a wall outlet. (Ground only connector attached to a ground wire) Tripp Lite suggested I plug this ground directly from a 120V outlet to the battery. So it worked but I would prefer if some part of the UPS housing were metal and not all plastic.2. The UPS is an older model and you really don’t know if the external battery is charged or defective. After speaking with Tripp Lite we decided it’s best to unplug the battery every now and then and check the DC voltage with a hand held volt meter. I was told the voltage should fluctuate around 24V DC. NO big deal.3. There is a small Dip switch #4 you need to switch the first time you power on. That seems a bit clugy but you only need to do this once. No big deal but worth mentioning. Still a five star stellar UPS!I connected this to a Dell Poweredge T440 fully loaded server. Next time I have an outage I’ll update how long the UPS and external battery lasted but expecting at least a few hours out of the UPS with minimal load. Very happy with the product and Amazon support. Tripp Lite provides software that allows you to automatically shut down the server in case the battery is drained. I haven’t set this up yet but a great feature to have!

Excellent UPS and Customer service that you can talk to – and understand.
I can’t really say that I love it yet as I have only had it installed and working for about 1 week. But I have plugged it in and plugged in my computer, monitor and two inkjet printers into the battery backup plugs. I have also plugged a couple of other items into the surge protected plugs and so far have not had a brown-out for a test. The software is a different story – I downloaded the Windows version for this UPS from their website, but could not get it to run and open the control panel. After calling their support and talking to a very helpful and knowledgeable gentleman, still nothing worked, but I remember that he had said something about needing to have a current version of Java installed. Bingo! Sure enough, my Java was ancient – like over one year old. I went to Oracle’s website and using their routines, uninstalled the older version of Java and installed the new, rebooted my computer and checked – sure enough the new version of Java was installed. Then went back into the TrippLite folder and activated the control panel. Hooray ! It came up and was monitoring the UPS as intended. Now that everything is working, I can keep up with power fails without worry.

Perfect for my home network and cable modem
Within one week of buying this , I lost power in the house but this unit keep the PC and cable modem and VoIP phone going for 15 minutes.I have always liked TrippLite products. I have a line conditioner that I bought ten years ago to keep the voltage in line when the AC of the house kicks in.I do not use the software. I just wanted it as a reliable UPS. It worked perfect. For the price , I also bought another one for my wife’s parents. One suggestion, it is not designed to handle a large laser printer. Keep that unit plugged into another outlet.

An excellent unit
I purchased this UPS for use with a computer system pulling over 1500 watts. It was chosen above others primarily because 1) it is a Tripp-Lite and 2) it doesn’t have a fan, so it makes no noise. I have had bad experiences with other brands of UPS’s, but now I use only Tripp-Lite power equipment and know that they are reliable and do what they are supposed to do. Be aware that this unit weighs over 50 pounds. It took a considerable number of grunts to get it placed.

Safe, invisible back up power supply
This is a very easy to use back up power supply. I plugged it in to my iMac through the USB port and it was automatically set up. It runs in the background and has a long battery life.We have lots of power outages here, and the real nasty kinds where the power goes in and out for several seconds before it finally stops. I have had computer power supplies blown from these spikes. One time our house (Metal roof since we catch the water in a big water tank) took a direct hit from a lightning bolt. (The power was out for 8 hours since it was a bad electrical storm) The house was hit so strong that it blew the power fuse on the power pole. Since this strike was right on the house it was very serious, my Tripp Lite back up power supply clicked off. Unfortunately, that also turned off my computer, but when power came back up, the Tripp Lite came back to life and all my electronics where fine. Without it, they would have all been damaged for sure.Other times we have had surges and power outages where my computer didn’t even notice. And since I have VoIP I also keep my cable modem and router on this back up power. So, I was able to call the power company in the dark on my phone (I have a simple phone that doesn’t use an electrical outlet) then turn off my computer safely. I left the power on the cable modem and it stayed up for hours. Until another lightning strike took out something on the cable lines somewhere…

I have three of these UPS units now and they work flawlessly. I prefer this small vertical black box format, which takes less floor space and have all the connections in the back. I use these for my TVs and video and audio systems.
