I picked this up to add a 12-volt lighting system to an e-bike, and it’s been a great fit so far. The compact size makes it easy to mount, and the wide 17V–90V input range gives a lot of flexibility for higher-voltage battery setups without any extra work.Performance is exactly what you want from a buck converter. The output stays at a steady 12V under load, efficiency hovers right around 95%, and it doesn’t waste energy turning volts into heat. Even when pushed near its current limit, it only gets warm, not alarmingly hot, and would be safe to mount on most materials. For something this small, that’s impressive.Build quality feels solid and well thought out. The wiring is thick enough to handle the rated current, and the waterproof coating makes it suitable for outdoor, vehicle, or workshop use. Built-in protections like overcurrent, short-circuit, and over-temperature shutoff add peace of mind, especially when powering more expensive electronics.My only minor gripe is the output wire color choice, the positive lead being yellow could be confusing in some mixed DC setups, but that’s easy to work around and not a deal breaker.For the price, this is an efficient, rugged, and reliable way to step down high-voltage DC to a clean 12 volts. Great product, pretty good price.
I have an off grid cabin on my ranch and we have lots of solar/off grid projects there. I’ll be using this buck down converter along with some SunJoe 24 volt cordless tool batteries that I have. The tool died, but I still have several batteries and chargers. I’m working on making connections for the 24 volt battery side, and then hooking this up to a 12 volt RV lighting system. It only provides 60 watts, but that is plenty for small LED lights for the cabin. This unit seems to be well made and it provides a steady 12 volts. It appears to be waterproof, and the wires look large enough to handle that amount of current. The price on this converter was pretty good at $16, so I’m happy with it.
