Works well, understand its limits
Easy to use, the one-page (double sided) sheet is descriptive and helpful. When used with an outlet where both are used, you can run into a bit of a problem. The unit “intrudes” onto the second outlet’s path. Which means if a two prong plug is used in the second outlet, it is likely that it can be inserted with no problem. However, a three-prong lug may be too “thick” to fully mate (see images). And if a USB dongle or power-brick is installed in the second outlet (see images), it is unlikely that all can be plugged in successfully. It can only be plugged into the top outlet without fully masking the lower outlet. The manual is good at hinting at tricks to be used for properly measuring an appliance’s power usage, like commenting that the refrigeration compressor being on will engage power measurements, while hinting that when the device is quiescent, no power is consumed, and the clock isn’t running. The display is bright and easy to read, even at oblique angles and in bright, indirect sunlight. The reset tool provided needs to have a clip or compartment in which it can be stored. I will guarantee you will lose this; I’m going to attach it with a string through a hole I’ll drill in the tool. I think you can safely use a ballpoint pen, although the mfg does not recommend this. My usage of these devices will be to measure the short and long term power consumption of various devices in order to properly size UPS-style battery backups for medical devices. I am pleased with them so far. I wish I could give a 4.8 or 4.9 because of the limitations I’ve outlined here. Not as bad as a 4, and not perfect either.

Excellent right out of the box (even with weird UI); great value
I use an Emporia power meter (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CJGPHL9 ) to monitor whole-home and per-circuit power usage, but this product really allows me to focus on a single device. The display is clear and easy to read, and the values if displays are just the ones that I want to see. The “Function” button lets you cycle through the different display modes (e.g., Power, Voltage, Amps), and works exactly as you’d expect. Some display modes have a counter feature, which is also very nice – a graph would have been a nice add-on, but perhaps one wouldn’t expect it for the price, which I hasten to reiterate is very competitive. The unit is solidly-made, and has no trouble working with relatively heavy-current items, such as a 1500W kettle, shown in the pics.My only complaints about it are the directed to the user interface. They managed to find room enough to put four buttons on the front of the thing, but to clear/reset the counter display you have to push “Function” and “Up” simultaneously. I may be some sort of weirdo special case, but “Function” (mode selection) and Clear are the only operations I’ll ever care about, having set up the small set of configuration options. I expect that I’ll only use it once a month or so, and I’ll never remember the mysterious chord to reset the counter. I expect I’ll write the cheat code on the unit with a sharpie!

Backlight and easy to use.
Easy to use and the backlight function makes it easy to see the information. Function button makes it super simple to switch between Amps watts etc… Not used the price per KW as our pricing here is not bad. Not concerned with excessive electricity usage. As long as my drill and heater work.. I’m good. LOL Thought my big screen tv would use more amps… everything plugged in and only .8 amps… Sweet… Heater on the other hand on high draws a whopping 12 amps. Good to know…

Good basic tool to check power use
I bought this primarily to monitor power draw from an inverter I bought that didn’t have a built in meter. If you know anything about inverters, the modified sine wave (square wave) type will read low voltage on a non-true RMS meter. This item actually reads true RMS which is a big plus.This isn’t a lab quality instrument but, if you want an idea of how much power an appliance uses, it’s a pretty good tool. Display is easy to read. Backlight is a nice feature. Only issue I have, if your trying to set some of the functions on it you have to plug it in. That means you’re down on the floor or in another awkward position to set it. Would be nice if it had even a small battery that would charge when you plug it in for a short time and allow you to unplug it to set it. I made a short 12 gauge extension cord to use with mine.Overall, I’m very happy with this unit.

Measures the power consumption accurately for whatever is plugged in.Unlike what some reviewers have said, when unplugging it, the cumulative readings (cost and kWh) ARE retained.I like the fact that you can turn off the display if you do not want it to stay on for the 10 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hour settings that you select.It seems very accurate.Measuring as small a power draw as 0.5W is a good feature. Many other plugs do not measure so low.The user interface and ‘button press’ logic are sensible and not complicated at all.Although I reset the overload setting to 2900W as it says you should do this, it is not needed. The plug works and displays at least 4000W (I have my kettle and toaster in the same plug that used in this product).Have now bought a second one. And now a third for my freezer.Addendum: The display is unreadable (black) unless the backlight is turned on. This was not an issue for me as I can turn it on when I need to read it. And if you need to see it without pressing a button then there is a 24 hour on backlight option. But the instructions and website picture are misleading on this function.Addendum 2: There is one (maybe more than one) item available in a double pack which look identical and are cheaper. BUT they are not the same. I ordered a pair but returned them.Differences spotted are: You cannot adjust the maximum power amount from 3680kW. Display stays on for 15 seconds and you cannot adjust this time, nor turn the display off before the 15 seconds expires. Resetting requires pushing the reset button, but no reset tool is provided. The reset also resets the cost per unit, wheresas the item being reviewed only reses the cost and power to date and the high/low power settings. The buttons are spongey and pressing them does not always work. But if price is key then this cheaper alternative is not too much of a downgrade.

Easy to use meter to monitor electricity usage. READ the manual so you know how to use the device. Works great once you have it figured out.
